This is an immersive code compliance course that are tailored towards all stake holders in the construction industry. The course are also optimized for code officials including plan reviewers and inspectors. This means that the training is focused on code compliant design. Additionally, the course also includes training on how plan reviewers and inspectors can systematically review construction documents for code compliance.

The Course Content

- The loading requirements for roof rafters and manufactured trusses – dead loads, live loads and snow loads.
- Resources that may be used in the determination of dead loads.
- Live load reduction requirements in conventional construction.
- The deflection limitations on framing members.
- Sizing of rafters and ceiling joists.
- Code requirements for rafter ties, collar ties, ridge straps, purlins and purlin braces.
- General framing requirements including blocking, bridging, notches, cuts and holes.
- Wind uplift anchorage of roof framing members.
- Roof sheathing requirements including conformance standards, grades, span rating, orientation and nailing requirements etc.
- Plan review of a conventionally framed roof.
- Plan review of Engineered manufactured trusses (Plan check example).
